Introduction

I remember the first time I noticed punk. Obviously it didnt just pop up in front of me, I'm still a young un, it'd been around for a good while before me and I'd heard quite a few punk bands previously, I liked the damned for years before even realising what punk was! I mean the moment when it bit me. The punk rock bug.

A good friend of mine lent me the stiff little fingers album "nobody's heroes" when I was around 15 years old and I've been hooked ever since. To this day it's still my favourite album and theyre still my favourite band, but this was only the beginning. It didnt take me long to unearth the absolutely thriving underground punk scene and get my teenage claws deep into it.

but i wanted more. I wanted to spread the word about this fantastic ball of spikey energy and what better way to do it than on t'internet? well if i wasnt half as bone idle i spose i could stick it on paper but this seemed so much easier. I am after all born in the computer generation, I'm part of the electronic youth! and so Smash it Up was born.

Over the years since I took my first shaky steps into this virtual jungle the site has evolved in design, content, changed its name and unfortunately suffered a massive slump in updates but I could never really stay away. What else am I supposed to spend the early hours of the morning doing? The fact is I derive some kind of bizarre satisfaction from figuring out tags and yelling at my stone age computer and ultimately, doing my bit to spread the word about punk. About the music, the integrity, the passion and the community.

So, here I am, here we are and here is the website. Its currently a bit small as this is a work in progress, stick with me as this will be updated regularly. It currently features reviews, interviews, band pages with quite a smart little mp3 player, a gig guide and news but will, in the not too distant future, feature pictures, DIY tips, articles and anything else that either pops into my head or is suggested.

Anybody who wishes to review, interview, spew or just do something on the site either use the contact page or email me at here_it_is_again@hotmail.com if not, stop reading this shite and get lookin at the rest of the website.
